Corsair Classic

Those baleful asses David Camp and Lawrence Levi at Vanity Fair's "Film Snob's Dictionary" dismissed Ingmar Bergman as an auteur because, as they put it, our parents found him cool. As if that is reason to dismiss, say, "The Shame," the greatest film on the subject of the effects of a Civil War on the individuals that make up a nation, or "From the Life of Marionettes," the most perfect and sophisticated and devastating deconstruction of Intellectuals ever --and since -- translated onto celluloid.

No, instead, let's dismiss Lawrence Levi and David Camp as the Conde Nast hacks that they are.
