Ask Ted

Too much information, but thanks for sharing. (image via harvard)

We've been dying to get some facetime with Ted Koppel, gasbag, whiff of chloroform, with all the sangfroid of a headwaiter. (Exaggerated cough suggesting feigned detachment) He never failed, Old Teddy, to provide us with much needed slumber. Ah, for a comparable sleeping pill as Ted Koppel.

Above: One goddamn fine head of hair.

But the pendulum swings. Ted, for those of you who don't remember, was the Wolf Blitzer of his day, tossing oral softballs -- pun intended -- at the Washington Establishment, as if public service journalism were a Washington dinner party. Only he, unlike Wolfy, practiced his craft in the wee hours of the night as opposed to the boondocks of Sunday afternoon cable television.

We have so much to ask of Koppel. Where does one begin? (The Corsair pops a bottle of Chateau D'Yquem; sips) ... Ah, the pause that refreshes.

According to MediaLifeMagazine:

"Ted Koppel has never been shy about sharing his opinions. Now any news buff who wants to query him can find them out. Discovery Communications is introducing a new feature entitled 'Ask Ted Koppel.' The weekly chat will be accessible via Discovery Channel Beyond, the network's broadband channel, in the new Discovery News section. Those with questions can email asktedkoppel@discovery.com, and Koppel will answer selected queries in short videos."

Happy, happy, joy, joy. A few questions from The Corsair:

1) Ted, we've been wrestling with this for quite some time. It's been weighing on us. Will you ... will you become our bitch?

2) Ted, we don't mean to be offensive. We are just curious. From what mammal did your toupee originate. We have a c-note down on muskrat.

3) Are you more or less windy than the bathosphere?

4) Did you ever feel an obligation to grill a powerful government official for Administration policy in a way that would have served the public? And do you feel that now, in the media ghetto of the Discovery Channel, that there is such a thing as karmic repercussions?

More ... on "Ask Ted."
